“A Song Thrush on the Oller” (2006)
A 30 minute documentary about deprivation in the Scotland Road area of North Liverpool commissioned by the Liverpool Culture Company, in preparation for a screening leading up to 2008 when Liverpool will be European City of Culture. A spin off of this documentary was I was employed as a researcher by the BBC, who went on to make a programme about the same subject area.
Merseytravel (2005)
A travel information film / DVD in Somali, Cantonese, Arabic, English. Merseytravel is “the” public transport provider in Merseyside, providing bus, train and ferry services.
The Strengths Company (2005)
Mike Pegg is a leading business consultant his company The Strengths Company. I produced a showreel for Mike of his many television appearances.
Age Concern, Liverpool (2005)
Age Concern is the biggest charity in England providing services for elders in the communities. I was commissioned to make a series of short documentary pieces about their work in Liverpool.
Imagine Mental Health (2004)
“Imagine”, a mental health charity based in Liverpool commissioned Joseph Cooper to produce 4 short documentaries upon the subject of Mental Health Care
“Somali Women’s Group – Cultural Memory Exhibition”
“Bandhigii Xasuustii Dhaqanka Soomaaliyeed” (2004)
Joseph Cooper was commissioned to produce a short documentary about the work of The Somali Women’s Group based in Lodge Lane Liverpool.
“Somali Fathers and Sons” (2004)
15 min – Experiences of the Somali Diaspora in Britain. Produced by Joseph Cooper commissioned by “Building Bridges”, Liverpool. Building Bridges commissioned Pertier Media to make a short video focussing upon the relationships of Fathers and Sons within the Somali Diaspora in Britain.
“It’s Open to You, My Child” (2003)
5 x 4 min – Looking at the experiences of students going to University. Five short documentaries by Joseph Cooper commissioned by Aimhigher Greater Merseyside. Aimhigher Greater Merseyside has a remit to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who apply for and enter higher education. They seek to strengthen partnerships between schools, colleges, universities and other providers of post-16 education operating with Excellence in Cities areas and Education Action Zone. The videos produced by Pertier Media will be used by Aimhigher to encourage more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to apply to University.
“MAAN Somali Mental Health Project” (2003)
A 15 min video about the Somali community group MAAN and their work in the area of mental health. Produced by Joseph Cooper, commissioned by MAAN
“What Has Cochrane Done For Maternity Care” (2002)
12 x 20 min. A one-day conference for maternity care professionals. A Pertier Media Production commissioned by The Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group. The Cochrane Collaboration is an international non-profit and independent organisation, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions.
